Life Is So Uncertain: Teen Dies After Outdoor AC Unit Falls on Him
New Delhi: An 18-year-old lost his life, and his friend sustained injuries when an air conditioner’s outdoor unit fell on them from the second floor of a building in Central Delhi, officials reported on Sunday.
According to police, the injured teen, Pranshu, 17, is currently receiving medical treatment and is not yet able to provide a statement.
A video of the incident, which has surfaced online, reveals that Jitesh was sitting on a scooter in the Doriwalan area, engaged in conversation with Pranshu, when the AC unit suddenly fell on them, injuring both.
“On Saturday, around 7 pm, we received a report about an AC outdoor unit falling on a person at Desh Bandhu Road police station. The unit fell from the second floor, striking two boys,” a senior police officer stated.
The injured were promptly taken to a hospital, where doctors declared Jitesh dead on arrival. Pranshu was admitted for treatment, the officer confirmed.
An FIR has been filed under sections 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he said.
“The forensic team has conducted a thorough examination of the scene, and the investigation is ongoing,” the officer added.
